The inventor of the Touch 'n Hold door closer was inspired by his own family's experiences. Years ago, his young daughter, though brilliant, would often get her fingers pinched trying to keep their old screen door open, leading to tears. The inventor also noticed his aging mother struggling to bend down and fiddle with the washer to keep the door open, causing her pain due to her bad back and arthritic hands.

Drawing on his expertise as an aeronautical engineer, the inventor set out to create a solution, resulting in what some have called "the world's most convenient door closer" and even "the best invention since sliced bread."
